Fuel Tank Replacement
1. Jack the rear end and lift it at least 8 to 10 inches high or if you have a set of ramps tall ones. Jack the side of frame slide ramp under tire and do the same to the other side.
2. take off the tire carrier(makes things easier)
3 empty the tank
4. disconnect all hoses ie fuel lines, also up on the drivers side tank is a vapor valve bolted to the fuel tank, 2 hoses connect to it, try not to break the nut on the tower clamps. Not reproduced and cost lots if you can find them. The other fuel lines should be clamped together with spring clips.(may want to buy a repro set before you tackle the job. You may find you need new hoses and spring clips.
5. unbolt the lower bracket that holds the tank. Bolts are under the left and right frame.
6. Get your second set of hands to hold tank and lift one corner and then slide the other side out.
then it should come down and basically revers the method when installing.
Hope that helps. I just did my 71 but the body was off making it easier.

(Some have this issue, some don't)
Before you tighten everything up, check that the drain-tube from the filler isn't pinched
Make sure the bladder around the filler isn't jammed up in the filler door spring/hinge preventing it from closing all the way
