Welcome to the corvette family
Where exactly is the auto fair going to be? I'm just gonna have to go...

Make sure to take a lot of pics as you are taking things apart. they will help you when you need to put it back together... Bag and tag.. blue painters tape-mark wires as you disconnect them..
Welcome to the site... IF I was in the area I for sure would come and give you some advice/and hand
I think interior is in pretty good shape, the passenger side dash is much easier, to remove/install.
Your doing good, my wife with no mechanical ability figured out how to re-wire a toggle switch while I was on deployment one year with me explaining over email.
These guys/gals have alot of great knowledge not only about corvettes, and they explain in great detail. Your in good hands they will even give you a idea if your getting burned if someone does the work or sells something to you.
Good to see another gal on here! Sorry about your dad, nice that he give you the car, more the reason to keep it and make it shine! First of all, don't let any one scare you off by saying that trying to restore an old car is not a good idea, over your head, blah blah blah.....f@@k em, I don't have much mechanical ability either, but I am willing to learn. To those people that think that way, all I have to say is: "Holy sheet, I wished I was BORN smart like YOU" We can do anything we set our minds to. (Guys and gals alike)
One thing I would recommend is getting an AIM (assembly instruction manual) for your year. It shows how everything is put together. Comes in paper and CD, about $20-$25 if I remember right. Do lots of research, don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think they are dumb. Expect to spend a lot of money on this thing, but it's worth it if this is your 'thing', just wait til you go cruising around and everybody is staring at ya! Take baby steps and it'll eventually get done. Most of all, HAVE FUN!!
I'll tell you an advantage you're going to have, You should be able to get your hands into places that rip mine to shreds. Some things will not aford you much space. That's the point where my wife hears "hey how about a hand here"

Oh wow...!!! That is a HUGE difference.. I already feel at home here and I'm not so nervous about this project now.. It's like I have mini Daddies(even the ladies) all over the place for when ever I need help!!!
I did take her for a spin today. Off gate I noticed that when I put her in reverse her rear end jumps and makes a loud noise! One guy told me it was probably from it sitting for so long.
There is a shop a couple blocks over from where I live so I took her by there and they told me that I most defiantly need a complete tune up. Their price was $300.00. I don't know much about cars but I know it only costed $150.00 to tune up my lexus so I thought $300.00 was a bit high? I suppose I need to take it somewhere else and get a second opinion.
When they put it on the lift I did manage to snap a few pictures of the under body. She looks pretty rusty so i'm not sure what that means for me. The guy said it wasn't that bad for her age. I will post the pics.

You'll get some response regarding price quickly. Sounds high to me. Most shop have a high hourly rate. You can mosy likely get some help and get it done on your own. Go to any of the discount parts places and see what the costs would be and that will tell you what they are charging you for labor.
Then get quality parts for sure. You'll get name brands from forum folks soon. Cheap and at time most expensive are not always the best parts.
Have a forum member from your area stop by and checkout the rear suspension for you. You'll find the answer there I suspect.

Yea, I figured out I could mostly do the work myself with a little help, as far as a tune up goes. I thought that if I changed the alternator out 90% by myself on my lex and with the fact this engine looks SO MUCH EASIER, that I could probably do it with minor help.
I have no problem if someone wants to come look at her for me, shoot I'll take all the eyes I can get at this point! How do I go about asking? Do I post another thread just for asking someone to come out and help look at it for me?
the clunk could be many things, I would first check the u-joints. And yes if you did the alt on a Lexus you can do a lot of the stuff on the Vette. I've helped a few ladies get to the point where they can fix their own stuff you can completely do it.
Did you dad leave you tools?
Can someone help here since I'm fairly new to this forum, but not cars, and if there is a shop safety thread point her to it? I'll search also and update here if I find something.
I'm thinking getting you educated on the safe practices before telling you to get the car on jack stands or rhino ramps would be a good idea.

My dad had more tools then he needed... lol When my brother took over selling all dads stuff I asked him to put together me a set. So I have some basic tools. So far what I have taken apart the tools I have work. With the exception of me having some stripped screws that I can't get out. I need someone to help me with that. I am getting a pair of ramps ( I assuming those are the rhino ramps you are speaking of?)
I have one guy friend who helped me bring her home who said he would help as time allowed. I just don't know when he can come help and I don't want to bother him too much!!
