Default For the 82 CE guys

I installed replacement hinges on the rear hatch of my CE last night. They are made by Steve Simpson and fit perfectly. As everyone who has one knows the original hinges were some type of metal that stretches and causes leaks. This guy machines them out of aluminum and hand finishes before shipment. My old ones had stretched a full inch. Can't say enough about the quality and fit.

That's a good story. Thanks for sharing. I always wondered why the windows leaked, but how can hinges stretch an Inch?

Someday I hope to snag a nice CE..

GM farmed out the hinges to someone who made them out of a very weak metal. The rear hatch is supported by two gas struts that continuously place rear pressure on the hinges. Thus over time the units stretch because of the combination of the pressure and the material they are made of.
