Default General questions

Hello,
I am trying to fix up (not restore, yet) my 1976 corvette. Well, the VIN# (1Z37L6S108211) says it's a 76 but it has the bubble glass in the back like the 78. It looks as if my radiator support is for the early model, and the fan shroud is for the late model and now it won't fit properly. It worked somehow back in 2000 before I took it off the road to get engine rebuilt. I got the car back from the guy rebuilding the engine unfinished so now I'm stuck because things don't line up properly. I am NOT mechanic savy, so I really don't know what I'm doing, but I have a guy helping me and he says they are not compatible. I already made the mistake of getting the universal alternator arm that doesn't fit. lol. Any help would be appreciated.

I have it listed on craigslist because I was getting tired of it sitting in my shop taking up space, but now that I found someone willing to help me work on it, I'm not interested in getting rid of it at the moment. Here is the link for picture purposes.

Yeah, that's not a 76, at least not the body. My guess is someone took a 76 frame and dropped your body on it. Are the numbers on the motor matching anything?

Could be a 76, but it's far from stock. Big back window could have been swapped on. Bumper covers are aftermarket. Interior is partially 76 and partially 79 up.

There should be a vehicle certification label on the driver's door which will have the full VIN typed on it. VIN on the label and VIN on the windshield post should match.

#8211 was assembled in October, 1975; that should make it "early" for fan shroud purposes.

Thanks. From looking at it, it appears as if I have a late shroud with an early radiator frame. For some reason, it is no longer lining up. The radiator frame has rusted away at the bottom passenger side, so I may just replace both of them.

Yeah, I took a look at that yesterday and saved it for reference. Thanks again
