I have a 1980 corvette and I am rebuilding the transmission and replacing the torque converter. However, I dont know which converter to buy. My transmission has these #s on it 6260233. I went to my auto parts store and they said there is like 5 different converters. Can any one help me in finding out which converter I need? my engine is a 350 and my transmission is a 3 speed. I added a b&m shift kit to the trany. please help. thanks in advanced.
Hard to answer without knowing why the store showed 5 different converters. Is the store a chain that you can look it up yourself and figure out the differences?
Is the 3 speed a TH350 or 400? What are you wanting to do with the car? Normal driving, drag racing?
If you do an advanced search, there is a lot of info on what size converter you may want to use.
I want something just to cruse around, but something that is not going to couse any problems. my engine has 330 hp. the transmission is a 3 speed 350 I believe but I am not sure..thats I was asking for help. the original engine on my car was the 305 california car. thanks
I'd suggest you locate a local shop that specializes in auto trannies and talk to them. I'm not talking about your generic "rebuild" shop but a shop that work and has a reputation with hot rodders. You will probably pay a few bucks more but you will get more.
