Default Torque Converter

I have a 1980 corvette and I am rebuilding the transmission and replacing the torque converter. However, I dont know which converter to buy. My transmission has these #s on it 6260233. I went to my auto parts store and they said there is like 5 different converters. Can any one help me in finding out which converter I need? my engine is a 350 and my transmission is a 3 speed. I added a b&m shift kit to the trany. please help. thanks in advanced.

Hard to answer without knowing why the store showed 5 different converters. Is the store a chain that you can look it up yourself and figure out the differences?

Is the 3 speed a TH350 or 400? What are you wanting to do with the car? Normal driving, drag racing?
If you do an advanced search, there is a lot of info on what size converter you may want to use.

We'd need your camshaft info to suggest a good converter - IIRC you want the stall to be at the bottom of the cam powerband.

Agree with TimH.
I have a 2000 Hole Shot in mine and it drives great around town. Launches good if I need to but very nice for a weekend cruise.

Make sure you get the right size for your flywheel. I changed my stock to the smaller pattern when I changed my engine to a zz4.

I'd suggest you locate a local shop that specializes in auto trannies and talk to them. I'm not talking about your generic "rebuild" shop but a shop that work and has a reputation with hot rodders. You will probably pay a few bucks more but you will get more.
