tail light replacement
I am planning to replace the tail lights and rewire them so that they pass the UK safety test. Need to convert the reverse to ambe turn signals and fit a reverse and fog light.
The originals are old and have a couple of cracks so I want to fit new ones whilst I'm at it.
The car has an 80-82 rear bumper on it. Will I need to get 80-82 tail lights or will the 74-75 ones fit? I reckon the older style are nicer.

The issue we have over here is that we need to have a flashing amber turn signal. I plan to do a bit of rewiring and the reverse lights will have amber bulbs fitted. I might even swap the lenses round with the tail and brake in the middle. We have to fit a reverse light and rear fog. I am planning clear LED's either side of the number plate. One red one white.
I stripped it tonight. What a mess. I'll start a new thread.
Have a great day,
Brgds, Bill
the simple way is to do away with the reversing lights, and put amber bulbs in the sockets. Remove the wires from these sockets.
Then take the wires from the front flasher lights and connect with the converted reversing lights.
Now you have flashing amber lights at the rear, but the brake lights are also still flashing, so this needs to be resolved:
Find the two wires at the indicator switch to the back up lights, remove these from that switch and connect them to the brake light imput side of the switch.
There is a feed from the brake light switch to the indicator switch, so you can use these connections.

The cabling is a mess at the back. Full rewire required I reckem. Must have been a family of Bubba's in here
Cables were all brittle and some were burned. Touching the exhaust? Joints were here and there.
