this is why you need to carefully inspect the frame on that vette you are thinking about buying. lol, ( i actually knew it was this bad and planned a frame swap from the get go.)
i have never seen anything this badly rotted away.

bluthundr i am going back with a frame from another 74. it needed a repair to the front suspension crossmember but its in really great shape. We have it repainted in black semi gloss and waiting to put the suspension stuff on it from the old frame. the car will be basically a stock rebuild with emphasis on drivability and comfort.
paul74 if you were closer i would send you the windshield frame from my parts car. and your frame looks like mine, alot !!
we were gonna unbolt the frame from the body and had it about 2 feet high on the lift , the back half of the frame broke loose and fell out from under the car!!!! luckily it wasnt higher up than that.
when it fell, it somehow grabbed the antennae wire and ripped the antennae through the quarter panel. i now have a big hole where it went.
The previous owner did replace the gas tank with a geniune gm replacement. it still has the gm parts sticker on it. so much for the build sheet though.
bubba had patched the brake lines and fuel lines about every 10 inches or so , from front to rear. this thing was incredibly dangerous.
so the saga continues......
