Another DeWitts Installed [pics]
Today was a bit of a red letter day for my 71. Two months of off and on work was wrapped up with the installation of the AC condenser. Back in August, the 454 was running way too hot. The combination of modded motor and age was too much for the original radiator. What started as a radiator replacement turn into a HUGE while you're there project. Here's the list.
- new DeWitts
- new radiator and shroud seals
- Stewart Stage 2 water pump
- new idler pulley
- new headlight actuator seals and repainted cans
- fixed bubba's alternator mounting using new correct brackets and pulley
- all new hoses and correct clamps
- new belts
- rebuilt POA valve
- new expansion valve
- new AC hoses
- new green o-rings
- fixed bubba's compressor mounting using new correct brackets
- straightened every fin on the condenser (Ugh)
- stripped and repainted everything
- corrected nearly every nut, bolt, screw, and clamp with year correct pieces.
I learned a lot about about A/C and 71's in general. Now I get to wait all winter to see if it was worth it.
