I just bought my 1976 L-82 4 speed with 11k complete with build sheet & window sticker. Its is a unmolested car the only thing is the rear bumper is cracked & split. Should I replace the bumper or would that detour from it value? I also need to value it for insurance, what value would you put on it? It has been kept inside so its perfect in every other way.
Sounds like a nice car - - suggest you replace the bumper with an OEM bumper - - same kind that came on it and have it painted before it's put on the car.
Value? Whatever you paid for it - - -you can pick a higher value if you're willing to pay the premium I suppose or have a professional appraiser give you a value.
...1976...the rear bumper is cracked & split. Should I replace the bumper or would that detour from it value?...
That's up to you. Replacing the bumper cover is likely to mean exterior paint unless you can find someone to match your existing forty year old color. What does the front cover look like? It's as old as the rear.
...I also need to value it for insurance, what value would you put on it?...
What did you pay for it? You can also discuss "agreed value" with your insurance agent.
Congratulations. Cruise and enjoy.

Congratulations and welcome to the Forum. I can't really help you on the bumper as I don't know much about the rubber bumper models, but if it's cracked that won't help the value. I would think you should get it fixed. You should also get collector's insurance with a stated value policy. First, get a professional appraisal, then you can go from there. Good luck and again, WELCOME!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride. Post some pics when you can.
As for insurance value, get it professionally apraised and an agreed value with your broker.
I hear alot about Bloomington Gold is something I should or could consider? And at what point should you look into that? Is there a cost & a place to get them looked at? I will try and get pictures in the next few days as I am going to SEMA show next week.
