There's fewer of them because it's a buttugly color.
Brown is about the "slowest" color I can think of. Baby $41t brown is the slowest.
Repaint is the best thing that could have happened to your car.
Just sayin'...
If I only had a nickle for the advice from others,I could have had everything paid for on my own car. When people give advice remind them that it is your car and you do as you please. Then go out and have some fun with it.No you did not screw up.
My opinion, No you didnt screw up. I just finshed my 72 that I bought 2 1/2 years ago. It needed a ton of work. Original color was ontario orange which for me didnt have enough pop in it. I changed exterior color, total interior color change, removed a numbers matching engine and replaced it with a 383 stroker, 200r4 trans and a 4:11 rear. Spent more money doing it then it is worth. I was in OC 2 weeks ago and got an honorable mention. The 2 cars that finished in front of me were factory cars. Nice but I prefered mine to make me happy. The final decision is in the eyes of the beholder and that is you as the owner of the car. Heres a pic of mine:

I wouldn't kick that Corvette out of bed on a cold night.... though I might, now, need a cold shower.
No. I don't think so at all. It's your car and this is your hobby. Don't worry about the next guy who may own it. Screw him. Sounds like you have a bad *** car. I've invested 50K or more in my 76. The car is worth 12K? I'll give it to my one son. Nothing is stock. In fact, I have my original motor and trans listed for sale. I don't think you screwed up at all. It's not a 63 split window!
I think a "tastefully" modded car would be fine. Keep your receipts, notes, and original parts in case you (or the future owner) ever wants to go back the other way.
I disagree. I've kept all my original parts for 16 years and have kept crazy records. I feel like a hoarder and no one would want to put my car back to stock. It's a wonderful blend of chrome, one of changes and the classic gray center wheels. 26 mpg. 400 h/p. I'm starting to sell my original parts now. At 56 years old, I'll never see my 76 worth more than 12K, on a good day! Besides, my son wants it just the way it is. A guy straightened me out last year by telling me that my 1800 mile 04 I just bought won't be anything more than a used car in my lifetime. He's right. Enjoy it the way you want to.
