Default Door Will Not Open

I accidentially closed the pass door with the lock **** between locked/unlocked. Now the door will not open, the lock **** will not turn to unlock. I have the door panel off and can see the part of the lock moving, but it does not release the striker latch. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

I'm confused. Unlocking the door does not open it. Once it unlocks, it should open with the door handle.

Mine did this,i saturated the lock mechanism with liquid wrench silicone spray ,it freed up the lock and i have never had a problem since.Just use the straw on the spray to direct the spray inside at the lock mechanism. Soak it good.

Where were you when I needed that picture 2 weeks ago??? I figured it out without coming to the forum but that picture would have saved me about a half an hour.

Thanks for the replies. I already put so much WD on the lock I was reported to the EPA for creating an oil spill situation. I'm going to try pushing down on the part in the picture. It's a little hard to relate the picture of that clean lock assembly to the one in my 74 door.

Also check out those little L-shaped rods...they should be straight and not bent. Mine got bent from the lock sticking over and over.

You dont have to push that latch hard, and you only have to do it once.. As soon as you push it down the lock moves to the unlocked position
