Default Hazard flashers - normal or a short?

Got a question for you. In a C3 (particularly my 68) are the hazard flashers supposed to stop flashing and the lights just all stay on while you put your foot on the brake? Just wondering if this is normal or if they should stay flashing regardless.

Cheers,
Azza

Normal operation. The hazard flashers use the same filament in the bulbs the turn signals and brake lights do. Stepping on the brake when the hazards are on gives the bulbs an alternate source of power so the flasher is bypassed. Since the hazard switch is "on", the bulbs all stay on.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know one thing in the car is still working as it did when it left the factory.
