Default Tremec 5 speed

All you guys that got a tremec 5 speed .64 5th gear ,what size rear do you have and what rpm are you running at 55 or 60 ? I have a 3:55 rear and it runs really good but i could go with a little bigger rear like a 3:75
or 4:10 .anybody with these size rears? I only run 1500 rpms at 55 with mine,i get really alot better gas mileage this way,but it could stand to run a little higher rpm ,due to my cam.

With 3.70's it's around 1600-1700 rpm at 55. I usually do 75 and it sits nicely at 2200. That's with 255-60's.

With the TKO-600 and a 3.70:1 rear end with 225/60/15 tires I run 2,300 RPM @ 80 mph. This would be 1,580 RPM at 55.

Something is weird, you run little over 1500 rpms with a 3:70 rear and i run about the same rpms with a 3:50.Tires cant make up that difference.whats a 350 not much difference then a 3:70?

Tires can make a lot of difference. I have a 3.55 rear end and 255/50-17 tires(27.1" tall). 55mph is about 15-1600 rims. I have a pretty good cam too and I considered a 3.70 gear change to up the rims. I determined that a change to a 255/45-17 tire gave almost the same rpm increase. I found that a change in my timing advance curve made it much better in the 50-55 mph range and iced my issue. If you will pm me your email I will send you a spreadsheet that you can use to compare tire sizes, ratios, speeds, and rpms.

I have a 3.70 rear end that is in very good condition. It has several thousand miles on a set of Richmond gears. Let me know if you are interested.

With my Tremic TKO 5 speed Has a 3.27 first gear and 3.08 gears in the back. I launch off the line like i had 3.90 gears. That is the ideal gear. If you had 3.73's equals 4.56. If you had 4.11's equals 4.88. Those gears are to looooow for the street. With the 3.55 you have. Maybe you'll launch like 4.00 gears That is good. The cost of the swap out isn't worth the little change you get.
In my tremic, overdrive is .68 I beleave the the Tremic 6 speed has the .64 overdrive. Before you do anything call Tremic and ask a tech.

Yes Steve you are probably right ,not worth the change.I was wondering if there would be a benefit and your right about first gear,i would proably lose first gear,it launches great now.5th gear is just for cruising ,nothing else. But if i was able to keep my car on the ground long enough i probably could hit 200 mph

Default RPM calculator

HurstDriveline has a rpm calculator on their website: http://www.hurst-drivelines.com/?page_id=11 to use for their Tremecs.
