Well guys I'm reallll close to putting the car together without the e-brake. I've been battling that damn thing for two weekends and I can't get it to work. I'm going to give it a try one more time later this week and after that I'm done. The instructions for assembly these places send, suck. I'm getting it together at times but as soon as the hub is turned, everything pops apart. Any step by step guides? The YouTube videos make it look so easy but its really not that simple (for me, anyway)
Well I finally convinced the E-Brake to go in correctly and work. So after that, everything fell together and the car is on all fours for the first time in almost a year
And while I'm at it, I'll give you the final specs on the engine!
So it is a 454 bored .030 over.

Comp Roller Tip Rockers
Lunati Hydraulic Roller
Domed Pistons to build compression to 9.2:1 ish
Balanced rotating assembly
Well I knew I wanted Hyd Roller so it began there as Lunati offers a retrofit cam/lifter kit. The Voodoo series is, in my opinion, a great street cam. It kicks in the torque band at a relatively low RPM and since this car will rarely (read: never) see a strip, torque is all I will really feel anyway. This cam profile also allows me to have a good vacuum for power brakes and a low stall (about 2000).
I was in need of a new water pump, so I picked up a reverse rotation pump from Summit and hit the junk yard for an early 90's S10 serp setup for $75 that goes on using the Kwikperf plates
This build is looking great. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the VB&P suspension, we have the GT set-up on our car- 460lb front coils/330lb rear composite leaf. Awesome on the highway and in corners, but around town it can get a bit rough.
As for the Fiero seats? Mmmm, I don't think there is anything better than the stock '79 seats.
I really wasn't given the option, the PO installed the fiero seats, however we will have to agree to disagree on the aesthetics of the stockers. I'm going to wrap them in some of Mr Mikes covers eventually
I got a little bored today and decided to play around in Microsoft Paint, its pretty early, but I thought I would go ahead and play around with shifter ball designs to sit on top of my Hurst Quarterstick. This is what I came up with after a few minutes, looks pretty cool in my opinion!
Long time without posting, just an update, engine and trans are mounted and done. I went with a B&M holeshot torque convertor with a low stall as my torque band should kick in fairly low. I kept running into small inconveniences that would be no big deal if I had access to the tools I need and the parts were easy to get. Between borrowing tools and waiting on Summit shipments, any little mistake can take a week to fix when time is not something I have to spare.
Here she sits with her pipes on:
I'm doing things as inexpensive as possible, so when it came to radiators I went with the more economical American Eagle (Champion) radiator. The dual 1" cores may not be Dewitts quality but they also weren't dewitts price. I am quite pleased with it, the quality is as good as I could have imagined for a $180 aluminum radiator.
I am running STS Baffles and will post a video of the engine ruining soon. Unfortunately it was taken on a cell phone and the audio is terrible. She started on literally the first crank!
