The A/C L-36 has the brass tank. Don't know about the non A/C models, but I'm sure others will know that.

Besides, once the original motor is gone it doesn't matter what is was originally, other than to the curious owner of course
It is not an a/c car. From the discussions I've read on the tanks there is a lot of conflicting opinions on what was original equipment. I think more people have stated with a/c was brass because it was thinner and longer to clear the compressor and without a/c was aluminum on bb cars. There are long threads on this topic which get confusing.
