Default Paint Code Info

Trying to verify the original color for my black '79 Vette. Accordng to information I have the correct code should be 19. Paint code found on the door is 67L. I cannot find any reference to 67L. Can someone point me in the right direction find the original color for this car?

Thanks,
Zeke

Black Book states that code 82 Dark Brown may also be coded 67.

Thanks for the response - I was hoping the black was original since everything I've checked on the car is original or date correct.

I now can find the dark brown 67 code on-line for 1979 but does anyone know what the "L" after the 67 paint code designates?

GM had a standardized trim code system across all cars lines on two-tone paint schemes. U= upper section of the car, L= lower section. Single colour cars showed just the L on the trim tag.

The people in charge of inventing myths and legends frequently state that the U = urethane paint and L= lacquer.

Thanks! I'm not a fan of the Dark Brown but eventually will want to bring it back to original.

Hello Zeker,
I have a friend that has that color. When I first saw it, I also did not like it. But that color grows on you every time you see. I am really starting to like it.

Thanks for the encouragement. I sure hope you're right. The car is very clean with original engine and transmission and from what i've checked so far correct serial numbers and date codes on other equipment. I gotta go with the original paint color.

Zeke
