Default 1968 Vent Cable Connection Help

I have a 68 that I have been restoring - while removing the center console and fresh air vent cables - I noticed that the retainer clips were screwed to a yellowish piece of plastic that had been cut out of something else.

I cannot find the replacement part - it does not look to be the console itself and I have looked at several diagrams on the internet and talked to Wilcox and all it shows are the retainers being screwed into a part but never names that part.

Any help would be appreciated

Do you have the 68 assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows the installation of the cables.

On the cables themselves, there is a plastic bracket on the cable sheath which screws into the underside of the console. From there, a cable runs to each kick panel vent door and screws into the door post near each vent door.

Can you post a pic of the "yellowish" plastic pieces you found?

Here ya go:

Mike thank you very much - I now know the problem. Bubba used the wrong console or broke off the pieces that the cables attach to - cut out part of the old console and tried to glue it to the new one. So I just need a correct 68 console and I will be good to go. Thanks again

I had a hunch that's what your "yellowish" plastic was likely to be.

Order the AIM when you order your replacement console.
