I'm new to Corvette Forum and joined to get some help ... I am starting a restomod project on my 1970 Corvette Convertible. The car isn't a matching numbers car and has a bad frame under it, which is why I bought it for my restomod plans. A new chassis and complete drivetrain is being built for me by Street Shop Inc. in Alabama. However, I want to manage the body and interior work, plus the final assembly, near my home in Peoria, Illinois.
Can you recommend shops in my area who could do the following:
(1) Body removal from the old frame
(2) Body and hard top repair, door fits, etc. and final repaint
(3) Repair of interior elements, installation of heat shield and new carpet, modern stereo system, vintage air, and reassembly
(4) Replacement of windshield frame and molding (rust problems)
(5) Replacement of body and interior on new Street Shop Inc. chassis
I know some of the corvette restoration and restomod shops in the area, but I'm sure I've overlooked some. Give me your recommendations, plus some pros and cons of shops you know.
Take a look at the restoration photos of my '69, you will know the level of the guy that does my cars. Everything you need all the way to NCRS body offs. Anyone who has seen it will tell you it looks even better in person.
Anyway, he's less than an hour from you. PM me for details.
No one better.
