Default Blue Print Engines

Hi All,

I am looking at a new engine for my C3. Has anyone had any dealings with Blue Print Engines? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks, Colin

I went w/ a ZZ4 myself. I think I remember about 2 years ago some guys had issues with their engines and had to work hard on the warranty. Do a search and see what you can come up with.

I would think that if you do a proper break-in their engines are probably fine. I almost went with their 355 crate. Good luck w/ your project.

If I recall correctly, there was a long thread about a Blueprint engine that a member had a problem with. If that's the right vendor I'm thinking of, in the end, they made everything right.

Looked back. The issue was around 2005-2006. I read many posts since then that shows they are very good engines.

Good to hear. Summit Racing sell the engines so I would imagine that they would be OK. Thanks for your feedback. Cheers.

Since a NEW not rebuilt GM 350 is $1499, why get a used engine?

I got one of those engines from Jegs, am happy with it so far but do wish it had more power, that's something I will deal with in the future

I agree, but are you saying that the Blue Print engines use a reconditioned block for their crate motors?

I am a little confused. Are you referring to the GM engine you got from Jegs or from BluePrint Engines that you wish had more power? The BluePrint engine I am looking at is the roller cam 383 which is 430HP.

I've decided I'm going to be purchasing one of their engines next month. The 355 seems like the sweet spot for me.

I think that the blueprint motors represent a pretty good value. My preference leans toward having a local reputable machine shop do the build, but in the cases of "gotta have it now" a crate is the next best thing.

If the budget is on the low end, and in small block form, yes the Goodwrench 260hp motor is a good deal. GM BBC crate motors however I think are very overpriced for what you get.

The blueprint 496 goes for about what GM sells a 454 ho shortblock! I dont know what the 383 goes for, but I'll bet its less expensive than its GMPP counterpart

Usually. But, i have not studied their ads. Not that a rebuild block is necessarily bad, just that the life span of a bored out block is less, since it often can't be bored again.
If u do buy it, put it on your VISA or MC. If it is defective, your bank might charge them back and credit you $$$$.

He installed it and ran it without ever timing it, and it blew. He, then came here to bad mouth them. They gave him a new engine. IMHO, they shouldn't have.
