New to this forum and I'm looking to buy a 1980-82. Guy here in Houston has an '81 that he claims in his ad listing is a Police Interceptor. I can't find anything on the web about them making this version in 1981. I'm calling BS. I know someone here will know. Attached a photo from the ad. Looks like a decal stuck under the Corvette emblem. Thoughts?
There was never an 81 Corvette "Police Interceptor". The badge pictured looks like something from Pep Boys to me.
I'm not sure the Corvette emblem is even an 81 nose emblem. There was no chrome on the 81 emblem, it had a black edge. It could be an 80 nose emblem (which was chrome), or an 81 with the original black finish removed.
Don't make fun of those Crown Vicky's. I had one as a company car, in the late 90's. It was dark blue with a dark blue interior, full wheel covers and black walls. Someone else had ordered it, and then left the company before it came in. The lease was up on my car, so I volunteered to take the Crown Vic.
It turned out to be the best d*nm stealth machine, I've ever driven.
I could drive that thing anywhere, at any speed, and never get stopped. I'd go down the road, and the cops would be waving to me, and you better believe that I waved back.

I can imagine the fun you must have had in that. !
I don't know about NJ but around here, many the local guys wear street clothes when they're out and about in unmarked cars. I've heard that some are on-duty and others, are not but any of us who can spot a LE stealth car, always get my attention until I know they're "just passing through".
