Check for power at the big terminal on the starter.
you want the wire long enough so you can connect it to the S terminal on the starter (purple wire) and hit the key, light should lite up bright. If not you got other problems, walk backwards through the circuit same way. You will also find on the starter the smaller wires connected to the big terminal, these are fuse links and provide power to all the rest of the car, check them with the light too.
