Default Too good to be true?

I was using Vettehound and saw a C03...later model (not metal bumpers) that looks to be in very good condition inside and out...for $5200

Now I just get a note from owner saying $4800 incl shipping to me from Augusta Maine...his name is John Chadwick...anybody familiar with him? Some alarms are going off for me so not moving forward-

- very low price
- shipping included
- he says in california but car is in maine
- he says he is in england on business but wife can handle transaction

Rust on frame maybe causing low price and such???? No mention of it...

I think i'd want to see it in person if i were you.
It looks decent from the limited amount of pictures but could be a rolling wreck , ya never know .
Shipping included ... Hmmmm
I'd have to say run , run far , far away.
Just My Opinion though

Stopped checking vettehound long time ago. Nothing but fraud there. Personally, I have bought 2 cars from usedcorvettesforsale dot com, so this website is (together with our forum) my favorite for looking around for a new C3.

was my thought as well gentlemen...glad I am not alone. I think I will stick to vendors on this forum and BuyAVette other than local items I can check out personally in future...thanks again for the confirmation of my instinct.

all this seller (maybe) owns is a computer and some stolen pics.

I bet someone can find that pics in www and the real owner would be very surprised reading that.

Such pics where you cant see a real background are always dangerous.

No one will give away a car that is worth 10k for 5k, not even a millionaire

Ask him when he expects to return home...which is where, exactly? California or Maine?

Sound too good to be true?

I looked for a Vette for a long time and a lot of the sites I looked at said to avoid transactions where the guy offered to ship the vehicle to you.

I'd say stay away unless you use a service like what eBay offers (http://www.inspectmyride.com/?client...d=121051203249) where they will send an inspector to review the car; for a fee of course.

oh I agree with what everyone said and thought that myself...I just did not know if this guy was known here as I know many of the players for Indian Motorcycles but little to none for Vettes short of sponsors on this forum...and the one or two shops in my area.

thanks again all for replies

That is actually my plan when I have money in hand....for a restored C3 or a low mileage C5. Thanks again.

be very.VERY careful on vettehound. i just was taken for a partial ride.

all was going forward until i asked him to send the title copy. The date on the copy was july, 11, 20011. His name was there, address but i wouldnt have a title that wasnt exactly right. So i made a search of the vin and found the exact same car in illinois. but them wanting 40k more and the mileage wasnt 11,530 but 741 miles.

Scams are easy to do on those that dont watch everything carfully. If you are buying from out of state, send an email asking for directions to the car so that it can be test driven by a friend of yours that lives near by. See what comes back. As with me.............i recvd. nothing

Tell him you want to pick up the car and the title in Maine and you will give his representative a cashiers check when you do the exchange. I'll bet you don't hear from him again.
