Default Frame and core support question

I have a 68 body with a 72 frame do I use a 68 or a 72 core support? The body is not on the frame yet but I would like to have the correct core support when the body does go on the frame. I have the 68 support but its in need of major repair I dont want to fit that one if I should be using one from a 72.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I would use the 68 core support if the front clip is an original 68 clip.

I would match the core support to the body but that's me, it looks like the core support is a 68 only part and then they're listed as 69-73E 73-76E

So the support should match the body year and not the frame, the difference is the body mounting? The car was all 68 until I found out the frame was junk and ended up getting one from a 72. does anyone have a nice 68 core support for sale?

Corvette Central just started reproducing 68 only supports. You could not get a new one before this. I would get a new core support. They will probably want as much for a good used 68 support, as a new one. The support holds up the whole front end of the car. Lou.

My company made the 60-82 corvette radiator supports. They are spot welded in a special welding fixture, by hand, to hold them in perfect alignment. The three holes on each side have to be in perfect alignment to match the holes in the front clip. Lou.

Thanks for the tip Lou, mine is ok on the sides but the entire bottom needs to be replaced it has been rewelded with plates and someone hand made the left lower frame mount it appears to have a bow it and its starting to rot out again . I think a new one is a better option

The frame horns have major differences between 68 & 72 you might have to use all 72 parts (cross member, end brackets core support & bumper brackets) check carefully.

Do you know what the difference is? Ive replaced the frame horn inner gussets with ones I bought for the 68 and bolted the frame extension up it all seemed to line up.These are what I replaced
