I had noticed that the rear spring bolt rubber bushes had completely destroyed themselves. Put in as replacements a few years back but they were crumbled.

I am replacing the rear suspension with VanSteel Coil Overs after paint but decided to swap them out anyway as its a quick job.

Hi Craig,
Perhaps it was the threaded portion of the bolt working against the rubber bushing that contributed to the bushing's early demise?
Regards,
Alan

Yes i could see that Alan with the lower rubber bush but it was both top and bottom.

I purchased them with a rebuild kit a number of years back and they were rubber not poly.

It has actually crumbled.

I'm going with the Van Steel coil overs on my 73. It will be nice to follow your install. When I purchased my front are rear bushings kit from Van Steel they advised me to go with the moog rubber bushings as they would last decades trouble free. They warned against the cheaper brands that would only last a few years.

You can certainly say, one thing has led to another on your Corvette Craig. Thanks for the detail(s). Great work.

Been waiting to slot back one Peter's schedule at the paint shop.

Gave me time to do a few a few more things.

Lifted the stainless T-Top trim to see why one of the side trims would not sit as low as the other.

Turns out the metal pressing was too tight on the curve stopping it sitting down.

Bent it out and now it sits fine.

Also reworked the B pillars and got them nice and flat.

Used FiberTech to create part of the missing water deflector in the jam.

Created a form, filled it then sanded to match.

Then found a picture of Alan's door Jams for inspiration and did a bit more work to recreate some of the glass around the sill plates and sanded the entire sills.

Mine were not like Alan's so they needed a lot of additions, sanding and filling.

Closer than before so i am happy.

I know the rivets are not visible but on one side they were sanded down so i just matched it for consistency.

I also extended the diverter to the back of the jam as that was always an area where water got in.

Picked up an original 1971 Chevrolet Dealer Sales Album on eBay.

Covers all cars and has paint vinyl and leather samples.

I thought it was cool.

The station wagon in the sales book brings back memories.
I had a friend that had a green one with wood paneling.
He would hook up his Eliminator jet boat, pack up his wife and daughter and as many of his daughters friends as they could pack into it and camp up at Lake Havasu on the Colorado River. Fun times.

Peter came and picked up the Vette yesterday and took it back to his shop to continue the paint work.

Empty spot in the garage now, my daily quickly took it up.

Looks great and very envious of your garage!
