Perhaps if you could provide a link to the lift you're considering, you could get even better feedback than you already have?

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but since it has already come up:

There was a mention of 4 post lifts not being as conducive to brake work as a two-poster.

I'd love to hear opinions on the pros and cons of 4 post vs. 2 post lifts.

(And by 4 posts I don't mean the super-expensive, alignment rack-style ones that come with a triple-pack of lift cylinders at each end, allowing you to take the weight off of the wheels, even though the car drove up on the ramps). Rather, I'm talking about the regular, 4 post lifts, that have the swing-out arms, just like the two-posts.

It seems to me that the two-post lifts would be the better choice, in terms of their offering more room around the car.

Thanks.
yes, they offer more room; but, as with anything, it depends on what you want - if you're just doing oil changes, routine maintenance, and alignments a 4 post is the way to go.

that said, I have a 2 post and 12' ceilings - and it works great for everything except alignments

SuperBuickGuy,

Thanks--that helps. I already thought I was sure I wanted a 2-post, but your input helps--I don't want to be working around a four-post, especially since I don't have the skills or equipment to do alignments. Also appreciate the info on your ceiling height--that's an issue I'm wrestling with right now.

Best.

Another option to consider is the EZcarlift. Based on their site they are back in stock and not being backordered. Only lifts 26" which allows getting under on a creeper and wheels are free. Done some research on the web on these and don't have a good or bad opinion as of now but just tossing this thought too to look at. These are portable and only requires a drill to operate so very versible in moving and don't take up much space.

If any of you have thoughts on this lift please post.
