Hydraulic Scissors Lift
IMHO, IF it's like my snowmobile lift, then the scissor lift would be in the way for routine maintenance like oil changes, not to mention repairs.... (It's not on a snomobile lift but...different species). However, please know that I've never even seen an automotive-style scissors lift. I believe someone said they, too, have adjustable arms?
Perhaps if you could provide a link to the lift you're considering, you could get even better feedback than you already have?

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but since it has already come up:
There was a mention of 4 post lifts not being as conducive to brake work as a two-poster.
I'd love to hear opinions on the pros and cons of 4 post vs. 2 post lifts.
(And by 4 posts I don't mean the super-expensive, alignment rack-style ones that come with a triple-pack of lift cylinders at each end, allowing you to take the weight off of the wheels, even though the car drove up on the ramps). Rather, I'm talking about the regular, 4 post lifts, that have the swing-out arms, just like the two-posts.
It seems to me that the two-post lifts would be the better choice, in terms of their offering more room around the car.
Thanks.
that said, I have a 2 post and 12' ceilings - and it works great for everything except alignments

Thanks--that helps. I already thought I was sure I wanted a 2-post, but your input helps--I don't want to be working around a four-post, especially since I don't have the skills or equipment to do alignments. Also appreciate the info on your ceiling height--that's an issue I'm wrestling with right now.
Best.
