I think those mods look tacky and dated and hurt the value. If you like it, don't be afraid to lowball the owner. My guess is that there will be a limited market for it.
It may indeed be a buyers market, but regarding the mods, if the posters in this thread are any indication, you appear to be in the minority. Maybe I'm tacky and dated too (a very real possibility ), but to me, that car is the among the best looking Corvettes I've ever seen.
I think carfax gives you a very limited amount of information. But may be worth the piece of mind.
Tacky? Really? Opinions may vary, the car looks very well thought out and executed, in my opinion.
Maybe I'm in a minority, but when I list a vehicle for sale I try and price it as to the condition it is in, the amount of money I have into it, and a fair market value. I also price it with a little wiggle room. When I have some jackwad attempt to insult my intelligence with an extremely low ball offer. I basically will die with the item before I sell it to said jackwad. I guess in this day and age of everyone trying to flip this or that, get in and out quickly, make a quick buck..... lowball offers are their norm. Not mine. If I find a reasonably priced car, and it appears to be well cared for, I make an offer that we both can live with.
Nice looking car! My main concern would be that the headlight mod blocks all the air flow for the radiator. I wonder if that was the reason for the trans rebuild. Mods are fun but you have to look at all the ramifications.

I'm not sure what you mean by "glass the covers". Can you elaborate?
the bumper covers - most people refer to the whole thing as bumper, since the car had some glass work done It would make sense to glass the bumper (covers) to the rest of the car, the front would no doubt look better.

I'm still a bit confused. Assuming "glassing" means something similar to "polishing", what do you see that makes you think the covers weren't glassed? To me they look as shiny as the rest of the car. No disrespect intended, I'm really trying to learn here.

I think what he's refering to is the nose piece on the car, some of them are fiberglass and can be blended into the body so there is no seam showing, IE "glassed in"---- but it looks like that one is urethane which can't be done. not to worry, they came with urethane from the factory too.
TACKY???? well----everyone is intitled to their opinion----as for me, I'd love to do the headlights on my '81 if I new how it was done.
Thanks, ddawson. The accident doesn't really bother me since it stresses "very minor to minor damage", but the fact that it had 56,8XX miles in 1998 means it's either had only ~1000 miles in 15 years or 101,000 miles (or 201,000, etc.). Given it's shape, I'm inclined to believe the 1000 miles, but that could be a very bad thing depending on how it was stored, etc.
My 82 has 225K miles on it, but could pass for 125K miles as well maintained. So, who knows.
Regarding the headlights and air flow and cooling, Mid America, Ecklers, etc. sell blackout covers for the lower grills. Never heard anyone say those affected airflow.
Aerodynamic lower valences all around look good. Often wished I put those on mine.
I think if you got it for ~10k+ for a 56K mile car, that is pretty good.
Would be nice to see some pics underhood, underneath, etc.

right back at ya!
By glass I meant fiberglass take a look at this link http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...os-please.html scroll down to see 3 pictures of a black corvette by Palmbeachvette76 and look how the front bumper melts with the rest of the body. What I was sayin previously was, since this car you're thinking about had fiberglass work and paint done it would make sense to do that as well.

rcread said it like it is. When I saw the pics, I cringed. It doesn't matter what shape the car is in or even if the 56k are original miles, the mods depreciate the value of the car. If the look of this thing is up your alley then you can use it to your advantage. I'd offer $7G and would consider $10G overpriced.
