C3 Exhaust

I sure this has been discussed before ,but has anyone ever seen or heard a C3 with the mufflers in front of the rear axle,and then the tailpipe out the back,instead of the muffler dead last, with just a tiny bend for a tailpipe? I ask cause I have a new set of Borla XSPro 's and recently purchased Flowmaster 44's.Have had both on the car, and both sound like "dirt".When I hear those same mufflers on vehicles, say like a 70 chevelle,they sound much different.Much deeper ,throaty,and thats the sound I want.Can't use sidepipes cause my wife has stubby legs

).I think the sound differences are partially from the fact that I still have the "fake duals" with Stock ramhorns and a single cat converter,which at least has been gutted and welded back up,and because the sound I want is on vehicles with have a substantial length of tailpipe.
Getting ready to build a complete new 2 1/2 dual exhaust and I was thinking about hanging the mufflers there where the catalytic converters normally would have gone .Then bend and run tailpipes out the back ,just like it would have been otherwise. Will probably have to make brackets but that's not a problem. And insulate/shield the floor board.
What ya'll think?

The fact that you don't have full duals is a MUCH bigger factor in the sound of your exhaust.
Also, on a C3, you'd have to have awfully thin mufflers to mount them under the floor vs where they are now without flattening them over every speed bump.
Get full duals first and go from there- Tail pipe lengths aren't your issue.

The borlas I got from a friend who had them new on his C3.He has hooker
long tube headers and duals,with X over.They sounded weak on his also,thats why I have em.

And I have the work anyway.Need to drop the pan and replace the main seal,and also need to drop the differential also cause it leaks.Since the patchwork exhaust on it now has been completely welded,I can't get it out of the crossmember without cutting it.May as well build a new one.
Already "mapped" it out and I can build the new duals with a couple of slipfits and clamps so I can either have the mufflers in front of the axle or in the stock position.
@ chadronvette;
By the time I get the "not to badly priced" chambered pipes to germany they will be badly priced.Even if I find some here the price will be astronomical.
I don't have mufflershops on every street corner like I did at home. The cheapest estimate from a mufflershop here is $900 for aluminized pipes with a few bends. Have two more estimates for over $1100.
Just bought 8 meters of aluminized 2 1/2 inch pipe , expanders , a portable hydraulic bender,and a 120 amp max portable mig welder for a total of $400.
Wish me luck
