I know....I know. To a of threads about this!
My 77 started fine the other day. Brought it home
Wanted to move it a bit in the garage....dead!!
No clicking no nothing!
I'm going to trouble shoot everything that I've read from
Other threads but my question is what do the ground wires look like that are connected from the battery to the frame
And the other at the front? I know where but what do they look like?
Thanks for the help for the noob!!
JJ
It might be the neutral safety switch if it's an automatic or the clutch switch it's a stick. Do you get any power to the gauges etc when you turn the key then lose them when you try to start it?
Starters just don't stop working, 'clean' the negative connection from the battery...Ya know, the one you couldn't find!......its probably never been inspected and you'll be the first to check it....
NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STARTER, if there was, you would not be home but rather on the side of the road some where and then trying to explain your absence to your wife is from a bad starter instead of a Blond you picked up in that shiny Vette she accuses you of riding around with.......
Once you get it started, make sure the alternator is properly charging the battery. When the engine is running, the alternator puts out about 14V.
Sharp looking car, by the way!

So... I put the battery to charge today.
Haven't had a chance to check if a fully charged battery will turn her over. But!!!!! Doing some research today some were saying that 750 - 850 cold cranking amps is best.
I checked the battery when I got home and it's under 450!
Could this be my problem???
What do you think?

start here first if there's no 'click' from the starter...get a voltmeter down there and see if you get 12v when you turn the key to start the car.
