Default Soft top question

Had my soft top replaced a couple years back and the fit is way off. Window seal is terrible, although all new seals, all the way around. Have tried to adjust, no help. Noise when driving and leaks when washing. But how far forward does the top sit on the header rail? My hardtop sits almost flush with the forward edge but my hartop sits back about one inch. Was quoted $900 for the job, ended up at $1350.

I think you mean the soft top sits back a bit. I don't have a great pic for you but here goes. The top is near the leading edge.

Sweet car! Mine is not anywhere as far forward as yours. I will try to adjust the forward latches and work back. Thanks

If you are not going to use a hard top, ( you would fit the windows to that first) the soft top frame should be adjusted to fit the windows BEFORE the covering is installed.
My guess is that with a top installed, you will not get the frame to move forward very much, if at all.

I guess you are saying during the build of the top, correct? If so, any other options at this point? New top again or live with hard top? Thanks for photos.

The weatherstripping on the hardtop is not adjustable. Install the hard top and fit the door glasses to seal against the hardtop weatherstripping. It is piddly business. Take your time.

The weatherstripping is adjustable on the folding top. Remove the hard top. Raise the folding top and tweak the fit to where you want it (rear bow, front header, sides). Adjust the door glass weatherstripping on the folding top to seal against the door glasses.
