Hi Guys, I have to remove my body on my 1980 which I purchased as a minor project car, but due to frame rot under the drivers side frame, it has become a bit more work. Any suggestions on where I can get frame sections from? As well, can someone also suggest a good book on removing the frame? Because I just know that I will come across other issues once I get the body off. I have already built a body dollie and removed the body mounts...YIKES, that was a nightmare as I had to gind a few off. Oh, I am in Canada! Go JETS Go!!!
Here is one of many threads you can look at on the steps to take off the body. There are many more. Do an advanced search in the C3 section for body off and you will find all sorts of things to read.
When you said "Go Jets" I assumed you were talking about the hockey Jets. If that's the case then "Go Leafs" back at ya...
Anywho, You can order frame sections from just about any aftermarket Corvette parts retailer. I'd check the forum sponsers first before suggesting "outsiders".
You don't need a book on how to remove the body. scottw is correct. Simply search this forum. I did my '80 without checking any resources. The hardest part was breaking the body mounts. Once you begin the lift go slow and you'll catch any wires that you missed. For me, I miss the battery cable that was strapped to the underside of the transmission tunnel.
