Default purchase question(s)

Hi all, new member here. Am looking to purchase a '68-73 (I know the '73's were different but like the combi nose/chrome back bumper. Am going to buy a t-top model (not a convertible). My issue is with interior room. I'm 6 foot 3, 300 lbs. That being said which year(s) offer the most interior room? Thanks

I heard that one of the issues of the '68 that the '69 addressed was the roominess of its interior, or lack thereof. Welcome.

Maybe you should reconsider the convertible idea. Maybe.

The only way to find out for certain is to go to a classic car get together and find a corvette the year are choosing and try it out and see what it is like for you individually. Very difficult to answer on the forum.

I have no problem seeing over the hood of my '66. A fellow about the same size as I asked to try my driver seat and said he had a prob. Go figure?

I'd find a local dealer that has at least one of those years and take it out for a test drive, if possible. At the very least, take a seat in one and see how it feels for yourself. I don't know if one of those years is going to yield that much more room than the other that would make that much of a difference to you. But then again, I'm only 5-10 and they all feel the same to me.

All C3 interiors are essentially the same physical size. Most people say the BBW cars 78-82 feel roomier only because of the rear window. Overall headroom and legroom changed very little. Glass top cars have a bit more headroom compared to fiberglass top cars due to the absence of the top upholstery trim panels.

My advice would be to find a 68-73 on a lot or a friend's car and take a seat.

These cars are tight no matter how you slice it.
The door panel and console are just about against the seat. Headroom is limited at best. I also agree with sitting in a convertible if for no other reason to see if it suits you better.
Good luck in your search!

Your a big dude , I am not trying to be rude but the height would be ok maybe a little tight but your over all size is going to make it pretty uncomfortable . You will have to have a tilt telescopic wheel and getting in and out may be a challenge

back in the 80s i had a boss who musta had a half dozen vettes. he was about 6'1" ish and maybe 550-600 lbs. Yeah. He couldnt get the seat belt around himself so once a cop let him off for not using his seat belt. You may want to chk out a c4.

His knees would pop getting out of a C-4 ... the c-3 is much easier to get in and out of ..

I am 6'2" and 240lbs without the tilt tele wheel I would seriously consider myself the maximum allowable size....really hard to get in and out and I am relitively fit and without the window open I still feel squished.Test drive or at least sit in one for an hour if its good for that long you will be okay.Good luck!

Thanks guys for all the input! It looks like it's going to be a tight fit unless I apply vaseline to my body. Many have suggested looking into a 65 or 66 model as apparently they are roomier? But I am really attracted to the 68-73 models.

The top of the 68 door panels are wider, to accomodate the hidden 68 interior door handle. That extra width can be a problem for someone with broad shoulders. But that width, carries the upper dash line across the doors to the rear window area. Lou.

Some may cry heresy, but as a guy who owns two vettes, a C3 and a 95' C4, I wouldn't recommend a C4. They've got an even higher sill than a C3! I'd tell you, you'd be happy with the room in a C5 vette. I totally love the 02' a.d up Z06's. You may suffer in a C3 or C4. Remember all Corvettes are loved.
