Hallo,
I have American Collectors ins. for my '73 vette, its about to expire and before I renew.. I hear Hagerty is the best and most reliable...also I can go to Walmart without worrying if the car is covered or not..is this true?
Thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks you guys rock.
I have Haggarty for my 73 and have no issues at all.
There's a few threads on here regarding this so definitely do some reading.
Ps... With that said, nobody should go to Walmart in a C3!!!
I see it as a good faith type of policy. Unfortunately I have a feeling more and more people will take advantage of it and eventually ruin a good thing. I wouldn't take a nice Pinto into a Walmart lot.
Not at all...just comparing companies and reputation.
You have American Collectors?
I do. Never had to use it. I can say they have never surprised me with rate increases that were unreasonable. Gone up only a few dollars per year,I've been with them five years now.
The only complaint I've heard over the years regarding insurance were from folks that found out too late that insuring their classic Vette with a "regular" policy was a good idea.
In 8 years I've never seen a complaint about a Classic Car Insurance Provider so I'd be confident to say all the national ones are pretty good and reliable.
I've had Hagerty for the entire time I've owned my Vette. Their roadside assistance is great, I've used it twice. Their rates have been steady, no problems.

There are a lot of variables that go into a rate. You may have paid $175 but someone else (different age, different city, different record) will pay more or less. You really have to call around and get quotes, find out who you're comfortable with and go with them. Personally, I pay a bit over $300/yr. with NCM for their best policy and $30K agreed. I also live just outside Chicago.
After some research and a few calls/quotes I decided to stay with American Classic by upgrading to Platinum status which gives me better coverage for Towing/Road Assistance, it also covers longer trips to car shows and events..besides their quotes are much better for my vette.
I also found out that some Ins. Companies don't offer the same services in certain states. Virginia is one of them.
Basically I've learned that when it comes to Classic cars, all Policies are pretty much similar..the trick is to find the right one for your specific needs and State
