This is along the bottom edge of the cover-I guess that would help explain why there's so much oil running down that side of the engine.
I have seen valve cover gaskets slip out of place a little bit before, but this is ridiculous. I picked up the car this fall. No telling how long it's been like that.
Nice catch, MidShark. The carpet in your house won't be called on to wipe the motor oil off the bottom of your shoes after you get that correctly replaced.
At least that explains the loss of oil, and where it was coming from. I would not expect it to be that twisted up. Maybe slipped out of place, but that is almost twisted out of place.
Front/Rear main. ... Doesn't matter much. A little oil drip on your garage floor means you have a CORVETTE!
That's the ironic thing here. I trailered the car home in October and drove it onto my hoist (haven't started it since). It hasn't leaked a single drop of oil, tranny, or diff fluid. I can't remember the last C3, C2, C1, or muscle car I've owned that didn't leak from at least one of those three areas. This is like finding the holy grail.
