I put the hard top on my 70 back around thanksgiving. The front latches down easily using the same latch mechanisms as the soft top, but the rear mounts are 3/8" threaded studs. You'd have thought it would use some sort of latch mechanism too but apparently not. I was able to finagle a fender washer and a 3/8" nut up there to hold it down, but it was one pain in the a$$. It's done for now and I expect to leave the hard dtop on at least into April but I'm looking ahead to next year. Anyone have a simpler solution?
Unless the weatherstrip leaks, don't use the hold down nuts on the studs. I almost never put mine on the studs, have no leaks, and the top stays in place with no issues.

I am guessing you are using the two outside bolts to the deck as well. If so, you can replace the studs with the same pins that hold the soft top uses.
There are 7 mounting points on a hard top from 69 thru 75.
Most do not use the center bolt. They do not want to drill the extra hole in the middle of the deck. ( I don't use one. ) It was added after 68 to seal the top to the deck better.
If you set the top in place, install the two outside bolts, you can unlatch the deck and raise it to get to the studs to install the washers and nuts.
