My vette has an old worn steering box that leaks. My mechanic said I would need a replacement.
1) Should I purchase a brand new aftermarket steering box? Will a new
box offer better technology and feel than that of a factory re
conditioned box?
2) Should I purchase a corvette correct steering box that is either original or re conditioned. I'm not looking for a bloomington gold but would an aftermarket affect the car's value? My car is pretty well original and correct.
If by 'aftermarket' you mean a parts house rebuild, don't bother. Most of them are junk. If you mean a borgeson jeep conversion, or a R&P setup, there are fans of both.
There are also a few folks who can do a better than OEM rebuild of your current box, for example: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...ueprinted.html
