getting ready to put my L/H dash panel back in, and doing final check on everything so that i can hopefully just install the panel one time (has that EVER been done?? but going to attempt it. LOL)
i can't get brake lights to work at all, i checked continuity on original brake switch, and switch is working fine, i checked for 12v in harness plug, yep, got power, but when i plug switch into harness, no brake lights when pedal is down, i even unplugged the switch from the harness and made a jumper across the terminals on the two harness terminals, still nothing. is there a ground that i'm missing that is not yet plugged in since the dash panel is not yet installed? btw...brand new rear harness, new bulbs, all grounds in place per AIM, etc. any ideas??? hate to install dash harness and try to sort this out later by laying on my back in fetal position! LOL....thanks, Rick

Reason: just cuz
There should be a ground back by the brakelight itself... I think. You have to complete the circuit. I think I have a short wire from the light to the frame.
I know you said you checked for continuity but once you found the brake lights weren't working, did you check for voltage on the load side of the switch?
If voltage is passing through the switch it seems like it has to be either a bad ground at the tail lights or a problem in the rear wiring harness.
THANKS Willcox, once again you have provided valuable info that i need, you have no idea how much i appreciate your participation on this forum, and your willingness to share your experience and knowledge! Rick
