1980 Corvette partially disassembled
Old rebuild on non number matching motor that has balance issues
Two sets of wheels and tires (factory and aftermarket)
All the stuff to upgrade the interior
Fresh paint (2005 but has been under cover in a garage)
I need help trying to figure out the value of this 1980 Corvette. My best friend Mike Robinson (MIKER) passed away in 2011 from Leukemia. He was a senior member of this forum. I have the chance to purchase the car from his wife but I have no idea what to offer. He had put a stroker motor in it but did not get it balanced very well, the vibration from the motor drove him crazy. So I know I will end up having to pull it and have it rebuilt and balanced. We took our cars apart back in 2005 and painted them. He never got around to putting his back together. I think all of the parts are there plus new carpet and seat covers. It hasn't been started much since 2005. I know that over the years, before we striped and painted it, he had rebuilt the transmission and rearend. I want to buy the car and have several of his friends help me put it together as a tribute to him. I have no idea what a fair price would be for me or his wife. I do not want to lowball her but I also do not want to be upside down in it. So any help would be great. This is what I would call a "project car".

I'm sorry about your friend passing away and I think it's pretty cool that you're going to finish the Corvette that he started. I have to ask, what you're going to do with it, because that's important. Are you going to sell it after you're done? Keep it? The motivating factor here is what counts.
I know that it has all the parts necessary to bring it back, but you have to factor in the huge labor part of it, that has no easily discernable 'dollar' value, because all our time, is worth something and I want you to think about that.
If it's sat since 2005 and being an 80', an needing the engine redone, I'd value it at $3K to $4k and that's just my humble opinion.
Pics, pics, pics. But based on your description I'd go a bit higher - $5-$6G's. That's on the fact that you state that everything appears to be there to complete the car.

I would keep it. It has alot of memories tied up in it. If ever came a time that I would need to get ride of it His daughter would have first dibs. We want to keep it in the family so to speak.
I was thinking in the $4K to $5K range.

Reason: add my idea of a price.
