I'm trying to decide to go taller in my gears. 4.10 rear is just coming to a point where I'm not enjoying it much as I did. BTW, I had them for last 4 years.
I'm thinking about either 3.36 or 3.55. My vette has 450lbs of torque so stepping down in gears would not be that much of problem regarding performance unless I'm running light to light. My town is 45mph to 55 mph town so people drive 55 to 65 even around town.
Several sales associates I've spoken with at different websites are all pushing for Yukon ring and pinion. My current 4.10 is Richmond gears and I've have no complaints about them and they are about 110 bucks less Yukon. Also, few people I've spoken with said they are happy with Motive gears.
Just wanted some feed backs from anyone who has any of the gear brand mentioned above before moving a head.
Thank you.

No offense, but running 4.10 gears without an overdrive is cruel and unusual punishment. Unless you're a hard core drag racer, 3.36 or 3.08's are a better choice. Or better yet, keep your 4.10's and get an overdrive trans. I don't have 450 ft-lb of torque in my C3, but my 3.36's and a T5 tranny with it's .63 overdrive gives me plenty of acceleration and relaxed freeway cruising (better fuel mileafe as well).
We run Yukon Gears in all of our Rock Crawlers and Tow Vehicles. Axles from small Dana 44's to GM 14 bolts, to 9" Fords. The Yukon gears are very strong and extreamly quiet operation. I would not hesitate one bit to install Yukons in our Vette. Easy to install and shim also. Good luck with your decision Al
the super monster engines on the strip might break a ring and pinion, but I have never seen one break, ever, on the street. your tranny gears, ujoints, axles, etc, will break long before any R & P...buy any decent name R & P and you will be fine.
believe me, the older you get, the more you want to just cruise and keep your rev's down. you want a 3.08.
my car had a 4.56 when I bought it... basically no good for the street, definitely would not take it on the highway. what was the guy thinking.. no wonder he never drove it. one of my 1st projects was to install a 2.72 and now I just grin as I idle down the street.
I could show you several broken pinion gears shafts. Both out of Dana 44's and Ford 9" These were mostly OEM gear sets. Also several twisted shafts, OEM and Mosser. I have sinces switch to Yukon gear sets and axles as well as solid bushed ujoints, absolutly no problems. High HP doesn't nessesarly break gears and pinions, But high torque and compounded gearing does. Higher numerically gearing ie 3.50 has more gear tooth contact than say lower numerically gearing say 4.10. The pinion gear is larger dia on a 3.50 vs 4.10. Anyway, these cars don't have anything close to the amount of torque to break properly installed gears. Al

If an overdrive trans is out of the question I would not go higher than 3:36s. It wouldn't be a bad idea to consider the 3:08s especially with todays higway speeds of 65 MPH or higher as most are driving at 70+ MPH.

I don`t know I`m 62 and I like a 3.73 but I have a 4 speed car so a 2.72 with an auto might not be bad but lugging around town with really low rpm`s can be just as bad as high rpms can. Chugging around like that will wipe a cam lobe for you if you aren`t careful. Just my 2 cents.
