Default Side pipe ground clearance?

I'm shipping my car to Italy where I'm stationed and a roll on roll off transport is much cheaper than putting it in a container. I have a 72 with the Hooker super comp sidepipes. I am in Italy now but my car is in VA. Can someone tell me how many inches between the ground and the bottom of the pipe? Thanks!

On my '72 with the Hooker sidepipes, the closest point to the ground is 3 1/2".
This is where the pipes make the 90 degrees turn into the collector just behind the front wheel.

unless the other party has the same size tires and the suspension is in the same condition you will be better off measuring your own car if you need an accurate number.

Greetings from Long Branch NJ,Americas first seashore resort and 7 time US summer capital....I agree with MelWff....my '70 has bigs and littles on slotted wheels which brings the front of the pipes closer to the ground....if you can, just have somebody where your car is located measure the distance from the connection just behind the front wheel to the ground.

Exactly! Even two Vettes of the same year with stock suspensions will often have different clearances due to varying conditions of the components.

I would pay for the container. Often, cars are on the ship for weeks, even months. They are not very gentle with them. It has been about 25 years since I had a car shipped from overseas. The last time (1988) my car arrived back in the states with all motor mounts/trans. mounts broken. Still not sure how that happened. The shippers used back then had a reputation for breaking stuff. I would not let the military ship anything I truly valued. No way in HELL i'd let them ship my Corvette.

No, I already got my military freebie. Paying for this one. But a container is about two grand more than a or/ro. I understand all cars are different, I just need a ball park for now, I have VB&P in the front and rear so I suppose I can raise it by cranking down on the spring bolts if need be.
