Electrical went dead while starting

I was using a battery zapper to start my 79 and it was this close to actually firing when everything went dead. No lights, no starter, not even an overhead light. Obviously I'm looking at something more than a simple fuse. Is there a fusable link somewhere that cuts all electrical? Thanks

First thing to check is the ground cable from the battery to the chassis. That cable and connection to the chassis rots away on a lot of these cars.

Fusible link is in iring going to and near the starter i believe

Yep. Check the fusible link by the starter. That's where the entire electrical system is connected to the battery cable.
