Alright the car I have has side pipes wich I know wern't and option in 68. The manifold casting numbers are correct for 68 though. They are factory 69 side pipes and chrome plated plastic covers.
1. Would the 69 side pipes bolt up to 68 factory manifolds? It looks to be a factory 69 system. Manifold #s RH3880828 LH380827
2. Where would the factory 68 exhaust tips be? There are no cut outs in the rear of the car and looking at the back side of the fiberglass it dosn't look like there was any work done to patch any spots.
3.I can see the two cutouts in the crossmember by the drive shaft for pipes to run threw but there are no other mounts or hangers visable or places where one would be under the car. Could they of just been unbolted or easly removed when it was changed?
4.I would like to attach some pictures but am not sure how to do it here. Im probably just not seeing some simple button but I havent figured it out yet.
This is the '68 only exhaust panel, you can see half the opening at the bottom outside edges. The other half is on the quarter panels. There is also a chrome bezel that fits in there.
Do you have the backup lamps shown in my picture?
Most of us use photobucket to post pictures here, it's much quicker.
...1. Would the 69 side pipes bolt up to 68 factory manifolds?...
Probably.
...2. Where would the factory 68 exhaust tips be?...
There aren't any with side pipe cars. The rear fenders and rear panel were different for factory side pipe cars and eliminated the stock rear exhaust outlets.
...3.I can see the two cutouts in the crossmember by the drive shaft for pipes to run threw...
Those are stock. All frames had them.
...there are no other mounts or hangers visable or places where one would be under the car. Could they of just been unbolted or easly removed when it was changed?...
Yes.
Why not purchase the 68 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and compare what you find there with what you are finding on your car.
