Default Replacement trim tag?

I was wondering if it was possible to acquire a replacement trim tag.
Is that legal? Can you buy it somewhere?

I don't really need it, my car is a restomod/custom so I'm surely not into NCRS stuff, I just thought is would be cool to have it.

Yes, you can buy them and yes, they're legal. A lot of money for a tin plate that screams 'counterfeit'.

Thanks for the info Mike.
Any link? How outrageously expensive are those?

This is actually a plan B, plan A is to make my own trim plate to "document" the restoration.

Bill Clements in Lubbock TX, use to do them, and to the best of my knowledge, still does. The number I have for him is 806-747-4848. I think he was getting around $400 for his tags.

Back in the 80's, Bill ran a company in Lubbock called Chevy Craft. He was very big in 55-57 Chevys, as well as 409 cars. This was when he got into making trim tags, as well as VIN tags!

There's also www.trimtags.com. They use a repro tag, that can usually be caught, pretty easily. Clements supposedly, had some NOS tags, that he was using.

Thanks for the info.
At that price I'll probably roll my own custom tag, so I won't have to glass those rivet holes.
