Which provides the cleanest environment and the best overall paint job ... a Positive Pressure Paint Booth/Room or Negative Pressure Booth/Room?
Secondly, in a Positive Pressure environment, is there any downside to having one wall be a ceiling-to-floor heavy plastic curtain instead of solid doors?
the booth we have where i work is a neg pressure. it has so much suction that it will suck in dust when i enter or exit the booth. thats why i like positive pressure booths. i get clean jobs but have to keep the booth and outside the booth clean. i painted a viper front bumper cover today and only got 2 little trash nibs in the whole cover. then i shot some flames on harley tanks and they were came out clean. but i have to totaly clean the booth after every job or i get trash in my clear.
i always got cleaner jobs with less work with pos pressure booths.
Thanks for your insights here on CF. It's great to hear from experts who've been through projects before and can give you information that leads to a better result.
the guys at the simthsonian museum use positive pressure to paint the antique aircraft. they also use a grounding wire on the gun to reduce a static electrical charge from building up and attracting dust.
