I had these blasted off and powder coated. As you can see, the color doesn't match real well. If I had to do it over again, I'd use paint. It's cheaper and easier to correct when the color doesn't quite match.
FWIW, I used Eastwood's ceramic paint in a spraygun (compressor powered) on my ZZ4. I sprayed the () centerbolt valve covers. It's 2 stage and a lot more durable than the stuff in a rattle can. Dries harder than nails.
Just a couple of cans of spray paint. Wiped them down with wax and grease remover. Don't forget to spray the bolts, stick them into a piece of cardboard so there standing up and spray.
This is my attempt at sanding, priming, and painting the valve covers. Now the rest of the orange on the engine needs pretty-ing up. I opened up a can of worms for myself. Attachment 48187308
