Default Broken steering column parts need help

I have a tilt telescope column on my car and have a broken ignition switch rod or so called interlock part inside of it, I can't seem to find this part anywhere, anyone have any ideas maybe I'm calling it the wrong thing but I can't find one. Ift the part that connects to the ignition switch activation gear in the column.

I thin you may be referring to the ignition lock cylinder.

Can you turn the ignition without the key?

No it's the rod that goes down after the lock cylinder, it's what triggers the key to move the ignition switch

Get a copy of Jim Shea's steering papers at
http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/

That will give you the correct names for all the parts.
I suspect (SWAG) the part broken is the rack (common) and those parts are still available from GM.

was doing some research and found a thread by Jim Shea and he showed this pic...it shows a good part number that you could probably get at your local Oreilly's:
