Default Hood Latch

1979 Corvette, my hood latch on the passenger side wont release. Any idea's how to get it to release without causing damage? Maybe broken cable? Not sure what is causing this.

You can squeeze your hand, or get somebody with a small hand to reach under the hood and pull the cable that connects the 2 latches.

Find and remove the rubber plug underneath the hood and the windschield en press the tang of the latch with a bended screwdriver, it will pop open immediately.

Do a search, there are a lot of pictures of this problem on this site.

Good luck.

FYI on a 73 there is no hole in the top of fire wall, but is pretty easy to jack it up , use a jack stand. reach up along the fender side of the brake master cylinder and pull the latch down.

also , my release was really hard to pull, took the slack out of the cable. where the "foot" that pushes on the hood side of the latch is almost straight up.
my hood pops with almost no effort now.
