I found a website "instavin.com" that indicates they have title history for classic cars. I typed the VIN for my 69 in their search bar and they indicate they have records for my car. Has anyone here used this service and if so how far back did your history go. Their website says 5 plus years, but in my case that would only include me and the guy I bought the car from if it's only 5 years. I'm in hopes that they might have records for several years back. I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with this before I waste money on info I already have. Thanks

This is much like the people search sites. They will indicate they have info on any VIN you type in even if they don't just to generate some revenue for themselves. The only reliable, old records on these cars are supplied by the NCRS with the dealer delivery data. As far as title searches, you're better off dealing with RMV's in the states you are interested in. Their policies vary though.
I would suggest that you (and anyone else here) do not put in your VIN number, even if it's just to see if you get the same response about having info on your car. Who knows if they are legitimate - and if they are gathering (saving) the info you plug in.
Thanks for the replies, probably a scam, especially interesting regarding the records for the fake VIN. Wish I had thought of that before I gave them my real VIN.
