Default Need advice with 17" wheel specs!!

I want to purchase 17" Rallye wheels to my latest Vette and need quickly some advice!!

Fronts obviously are 8" wide but need backspacing and recommend tire size..

Rears I'd like to use 9" wide wheels but are they clear w/o any mods?? Or what is max widht will fit and again backspacing and recommend tire size.

Thanks in advance!!

Tuomas

In the front a 17x8 with a 4" backspace and a 245/45-17 tire works fine. The rear is the issue. In an ideal world a 17x9 with a 5" backspace and a 275/40-17 tire would be a good compliment for the front as both those tires are the same overall height. The only problem is a 5" backspace may not clear on the inside (the parking brake cable/trailing arm). With a 18" wheel a 5" backspace on a 9" wide wheel never seems to cause a problem because the wheel hoop being larger offers more suspension clearence on the inside. There would be a lot less drama if you were able to test fit something close. If you do a search using "17s" there is hours of reading on this. The problem is these cars (as well as other 30+ year old cars) all seem to be a little different so when you get into max sizes what works on one may not work on another.
