Well I have enjoyed several years with my 82 and I have appreciated the help I received from Forum members but it is time to move on. Here is what I picked up last weekend.
Nice looking car. My wife has a Black on Black 2001 convertible. I love it and my 68. I'm sure you will have a blast with it. Maybe see you over on the C5 forums.
I went from a C3 to a C5. I recently sold my C5 and went back to a C3. The C5 was a great car until I started having electrical problems. I fixed what was wrong and sold it. The difference between a C5 and a C3 is people stop and stare at a C3, the C5 is just another sports car. Mine was a 99 black convertible.
Congratulations on your new vette. I kept my C3 but also went out and bought a 2001 ZO6. I wanted something that I could take on a longer cruise in comfort, and something that I did not have to tinker with or work on. So far its been a great car and I end up taking it to work every Thursday. I take my C3 to work every Friday. They are both different and unique.

Good luck with it.
i did the same thing. I hope you won't have the same electrical problems that I did. Doing DIY work on a C5 is a whole different ball park than a C3. Good luck and enjoy the technology!
My eyes moved right over to the C3 also. My Ol'Man has the last year of the C4 collectors edition Silver on Black convertable. I remember driving it at 80 in 6th gear at 1500 rpms then dropped down to 4th to see what it could do was at 100 MPH in seconds. While I love the newer C4 and C5 my passion has always been with the Mako Shark C3editions.
If I had the money I would have bought a pre 1972 edition. Too much horse power for my HUGE Lead foot with the newer and older then I purchased. I would be smokin the tires too often or in jail from breakin the laws.
I've got a 72 and a 2000. Both coupes but completely different animals. The LS1 engines are awesome and the handling is great. You can drive a C5 comfortably across the country. However when you start having electrical problems you are in trouble. If you have a 2001-2004 it's easier to repair but with a 1997-2000 if your ABS/ Traction control goes to the crapper you are SOL. No fix, no replacement. The newer style is not compatible either. Just screwed. If I could sell the C5, I would. However I will never willingly part with the C3.

The C5 makes for a great sunny day DD, but is expendable! The c3 will be passed to my kid.
C5's are notorious electrical monsters. Most of these issues are triggered by corroded grounds and/or low battery voltage shorting relays. ECBM's are failure prone, and only 2001-2004 units can be fixed and or remain available new. Mine went bad in my 01 and I found a thread to repair it which was successful. After reading through the electrical sticky in C5 Tech, I now check/clean my ground connectors every so often and keep the tender on when not driving frequently. So far so good. OP may want to check out that sticky.
