Default power steering mounting

The power steering pump on my '75 is under the alt. in a position where you can't even get the cap off to check the fluid.I know this can't be normal. somebody put the wrong brackets on or what?

G'day,

That is perfectly normal for these cars, your best shot is to find a shorter belt or get a Summit catalogue and look for a billet aluminum alternator bracket. That's what I did to my '74 coupe, but still had to grind a small amount off the bracket to get the filler cap off.

Thats kind of what I was thinking.I am going to try a shorter belt first although doesn't look like much adjustment there.
